Better Buzz Coffee Roasters, the San Diego-based coffee company known for handcrafted espresso drinks and delicious breakfast items, is working on a new location in Imperial Beach at 1180 Palm Avenue.

The company’s new location hopes to open in the current home of Burger King, according to permit filings submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While these plans or an exact opening date have not yet been announced, the filing is currently under review and proves the company has no intention of slowing its regional expansion. Customers can expect a menu featuring signature espresso drinks, blended coffees, teas, smoothies, acai bowls, and breakfast sandwiches.

Better Buzz has been expanding throughout San Diego County since 2007, with multiple locations in neighborhoods such as Pacific Beach, La Mesa, Carlsbad, Vista, and Oceanside. The company previously submitted paperwork for a new location in Escondido that has since been withdrawn. Imperial Beach would become the brand’s southernmost location, with the next closest store in Bonita.

The company operates as a certified organic coffee roaster, sourcing beans that are Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certified. Its cafes are known for combining high-quality coffee with casual, approachable settings. If this location moves forward, it will continue the brand’s growth strategy in San Diego County and expand access to its unique drink and food offerings.

Better Buzz’s menu includes drinks like the Best Drink Ever, Horchata Iced Latte, Killer Bee, and seasonal nitro and cold brews. Guests can also find breakfast items, including acai bowls, yogurt bowls, toasts, and sandwiches like the Better Breakfast and the Chili Crunch Breakfast Wrap. Most drinks can be ordered hot or iced, and the company offers a selection of teas, energy drinks, and smoothies.

This will be an excellent landing space for Better Buzz, given its location in a commercial strip and proximity to residents and visitors. The Imperial Beach store would continue the company’s focus on expanding its regional footprint while maintaining its signature coffee and breakfast experience.
