Momo Sando & Omakase, a sushi- and sando-focused restaurant, is preparing to open in San Diego at 6755 Mira Mesa Blvd, STE 108.
The new restaurant will move into the former home of Kumo, which is closed until further notice, according to the company’s Instagram. Momo Sando & Omakase co-owner Christine Oh tells What Now San Diego that the restaurant is now targeting an opening in the first week of January. Customers can expect a combination of sushi and Japanese-style sandwiches, prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The restaurant will offer a selection of specialty dishes for both dine-in and takeout, providing guests with a casual yet refined experience.
Momo Sando & Omakase will be led by executive sushi chef and owner Changjin Oh. Changjin previously worked at Nobu in multiple locations and was also part of the opening team at Nobu Del Coronado. This venture marks the couple’s first independent restaurant, merging traditional sushi techniques with inventive Japanese sandwich creations. The menu aims to appeal to a wide range of tastes while highlighting Chef Changjin Oh’s professional background.
The Mira Mesa location provides an accessible space for residents, office workers, and shoppers in the area. The restaurant occupies a suite in a busy shopping center with ample parking and foot traffic, making it a convenient choice for quick meals or casual dining. The interior is planned with a contemporary layout that accommodates both small and larger groups while maintaining an efficient workflow for kitchen staff.
Momo Sando & Omakase represents a significant addition to the Mira Mesa dining scene, offering a new option for Japanese cuisine. The combination of sushi and sando concepts in one location is intended to appeal to a diverse range of dining preferences. The owners aim to provide a casual, accessible way to experience high-quality Japanese dishes while introducing their approach to the local community.
