MBM Hospitality, led by chef and founder Meg Walker, is getting ready to introduce a new public-facing cafe in Redondo Beach at the Redondo Beach Historic Library at 309 Esplanade.
The company’s upcoming project is set to take over the former event space, according to a recently submitted liquor license application. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the plan is to open the yet-to-be-named cafe by Spring 2026. The cafe will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday for at least four hours per day, offering consistent access to the historic waterfront site.
Under the 10-year agreement, Made By Meg will invest $866,000 in interior upgrades, pay a rising annual rent starting at $125,000, contribute 1% of sales, handle maintenance, and host four art exhibits each year, according to Easy Reader News. The city will complete exterior improvements by June 30, 2026, while interior plans include a new kitchen, remodeled restrooms, and updated finishes. The deal restores regular use of the 1930 library building after Spectrum Catering’s lease ended in 2020.
Made By Meg, founded in 2007 and based in Torrance, caters to hundreds of events annually and oversees several hospitality concepts under MBM Hospitality. The upcoming cafe will serve as the company’s newest public dining operation and an excellent landing space for expanding its presence in the South Bay.
“Made by Meg Catering exclusively manages and caters events at the Redondo Beach Historic Library,” according to the library’s website. “Create lasting memories by hosting your next milestone event at the Redondo Historic Library, paired with exceptional full-service catering from Made by Meg.
