A Los Angeles restaurant is weeks away from saying goodbye to the city’s dining scene. Un Solo Sol, known for its vegan menu, will close after nearly 16 years in business.
LA’s Vegan Spot Is Set to Close for Good
Un Solo Sol will close its Los Angeles location on September 28. It shared the update with the Boyle Heights and Greater Los Angeles community on Instagram. The restaurant has been serving guacamole, chilaquiles, and other offerings for almost 16 years.
Un Solo Sol operated at 1818 E. 1st Street for nearly 16 years. The restaurant posted. “For 16 years, Un Solo Sol has been so much more than a restaurant. It has been a space where we gathered to nourish our bodies with healthy, plant-based cuisine, share our cultures, and uplift one another.”
Diners shared their reactions in the comment section with a user saying how Mariachi Plaza will not be the same without the restaurant. “Thank you for the many years of delicious meals made with love,” the user added.
Another customer wrote, “One of my favorite places to eat! Thanks for providing great food, community, and atmosphere for so many years.”
Restaurant Cites Economic Pressures
Un Solo Sol’s closure announcement showed that varied troubles are currently being faced by the small and independent business operators. Some of the issues include inflation, surging operational expenses, and related challenges.
The restaurant said it tried to keep rates low while using good-quality ingredients. It has now decided to close its Los Angeles location.
