A new bar concept may be taking shape in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood. According to public filings, Double Dutchie has filed permits to operate as a bar with on-site sale and consumption of a full line of alcoholic beverages at 5630 N. Figueroa St.
The address was previously home to ETA, an oyster bar that featured live jazz performances and has since permanently closed. The permit for Double Dutchie also allows for extended hours, from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily, along with updated conditions allowing occasional cover charges for live music and DJ performances.
What Now Los Angeles reached out to applicant Jason McGuire for details about the upcoming project and its opening timeline but did not receive a response prior to publication.
McGuire is also the manager of Stones Thrown Studio, LLC, a full-service audio recording, mixing, and mastering facility based in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Stones Thrown Studio is located on the same block as the proposed Double Dutchie.
If approved, Double Dutchie would join a vibrant stretch of Figueroa Street that has become one of Northeast Los Angeles’ most active dining and nightlife corridors, drawing a diverse mix of longtime residents and newcomers to the neighborhood’s independent, community-rooted character.
