A permit modification could bring a totally new concept to an already opened bar in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood. According to public filings, Double Dutchie has filed permits to operate with on-site sale and consumption of a full line of alcoholic beverages at 5630 N. Figueroa St.
The address was previously home to ETA, an oyster bar that featured live jazz performances and has since closed. The space currently operates as the vinyl bar Palomino. The permit for Double Dutchie also allows for extended hours, from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily, along with updated conditions allowing occasional cover charges for live music and DJ performances.
What Now Los Angeles reached out to applicant and manager of Double Dutchie LLC, Jason McGuire for details about the upcoming project but did not receive a response prior to publication. It remains unclear whether Double Dutchie represents a rebrand of Palomino or simply an update to its existing permit.
McGuire is also related to Stones Thrown Studio, LLC, a full-service audio recording, mixing, and mastering facility based in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Stones Thrown Studio is located on the same block as Palomino.
Whether Double Dutchie turns out to be a new chapter for Palomino or simply an update to its permit, the changes would bring later hours and paid live entertainment to a stretch of Figueroa Street that has become one of Northeast Los Angeles’ most active dining and nightlife corridors, drawing a diverse mix of longtime residents and newcomers to the neighborhood’s independent, community-rooted character.
