Located in Buda, Louie’s Craft BBQ has made a name for itself on its mission to “create food that stirs the soul and brings friends & families together, forming long-lasting memories!

“If you know anything about Austin, it doesn’t have any shortage of BBQ joints, food trucks, and trailers,” says a description on the Louie’s website. “Hence, why we went 10 minutes south to Buda (not Buddha), Texas, where our desire to serve mouthwatering perfection and never cut corners quickly has set us apart from the crowd. It’s all about simplicity. All-natural meats smoked low and slow, & sides made fresh daily.”

Serving up proteins like Natural Angus Brisket, Berkshire Pulled Pork, Smoked Turkey Breast, and Housemade Sausages, Louie’s Craft BBQ is headed up by Matt Carver, who has grown the brand with plans to move it into a brick-and-mortar home at 108 N Main St.

As it happens, there’s more going on at that location than just the Louie’s opening. As the Austin Business Journal has reported, the new Louie’s Craft BBQ will, in fact, share the space with a larger concept, Home or Away.

In a LinkedIn post, Justin Sayers, the writer of the Business Journal article, shares that Home or Away will be a “seven-day-a-week family-friendly sports bar concept with nearly 50 big screen televisions, food for all ages, family-friendly amenities and more.”

“Louie’s,” the Business Journal coverage notes, “will move into a smokehouse on the back patio and remain on a weekend schedule. Up front, a new joint called Home or Away will operate seven days a week—big enough to need about 50 big TVs.”

What Now reached out to Matt Carver on Tuesday to ask about the opening. Carver was not immediately available for comment.
