Led by Chef Michael Ostros, Liberty Prime Steakhouse has been a loyal following in Jersey City. The steakhouse is best known for its farm-to-table approach and in-house dry-aged steaks.
Beyond its steaks and desserts, the steakhouse also has an extensive wine list and cocktail selection.
The steakhouse shared the news of its closure through an Instagram post. “We’re closing our doors at the end of December, after 15 incredible years,” said the steakhouse team.
In the post, the steakhouse team also extended a warm invitation to the guest, and mentioned, “It’s the perfect chance to relive your favorite meals, share memories, and make the last moments at Liberty Prime Steakhouse truly unforgettable.”

The team has not shared any official reason for the closure decision.

After the closure announcement went live, longtime customers flooded the post with heartfelt messages and memories. Under the closure post, many community members expressed sadness, disbelief, and gratitude.

However, the steakhouse hinted at a new chapter with plans for a second location. The team concluded, “Stay tuned for our new Liberty Prime Steakhouse location!”
