Athidi Aalayam, the vegetarian Indian restaurant offering “a purely veg experience that lingers on your taste buds,” is preparing to open a new location in Leander. According to a project submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new Athidi Aalayam will open at 15321 Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
“The opening is still a few months away,” owner Sharath Kumar told What Now on Wednesday. “It’s a restaurant featuring South Indian vegetarian food. It’s our second location, after the one in Frisco.”
The menu offers a sweeping variety of choices, ranging from appetizers like Chill Garlic Paneer and Kaju Gobi (Cauliflower And Cashews Stir-Fried With Indian Spices For A Rich, Nutty Taste) to various Biryani and Chinese Fried Rice offerings, to a Tandoor menu, to Curries like Bhindi Masala (Okra Sautéed With Onions, Tomatoes, And Spices For A Classic Dry Curry) and Malai Kofta (Soft Paneer And Potato Balls In A Rich, Creamy Tomato-Based Sauce). And that’s just a small taste of what there is to try at Athidhi Aalayam.
“In the sacred space of Athidhi Aalayam, we welcome every guest as a reflection of the divine and serve purity of vegetarian fare as Prasadam with the warmth of heartfelt hospitality,” says the Athidhi Aalayam website. “At Athidhi Aalayam — experience is more than food; it’s culture, comfort, and a celebration of tradition and heritage with every bite of fresh food made right in front of you in our live kitchen.”
The submitted paperwork estimates a completion of date of June 30 for the construction, which is expected to cost $650,000.
