The Italian restaurant with hand-crafted pizzas is coming to a new suburb, this time on the southwest side.
It is being reported that Gia Mia is expanding to Bolingbrook at 619 E Boughton Road in the former Bar Louie space. According to Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta’s social media, the company recently applied for a certificate of occupancy. Owner of Gia Mia Brian Goewey said the new location is opening in April 2026.
The first Gia Mia location opened in Wheaton in 2015. It was started by Goewey, a chef who founded BG Hospitality which owns the restaurant. He has seven Gia Mia locations in suburbs including Geneva, Downers Grove, St. Charles and Naperville.
The restaurant runs lunch specials for their wood-fired pizzas, including margarita pizzas. On the regular menu there are salads, pastas, salmon, beef and small bites. They serve dessert as well, including tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake. The dishes served are “chef-driven, farm-to-fork food concepts,” according to their website.
Gia Mia will be at the south end of The Promenade Bolingbrook, next to H&M and CG’s Comedy Club. Other restaurants in the shopping center include Ted’s Montana Grill, Tanaka Ramen and Mago Grill & Cantina.
No social media has been set up for the Bolingbrook location. More information and a press release will follow in the coming weeks.
