The Well Coffeehouse has plans to expand at its location at 4002 Granny White Pike near Lipscomb University, according to an announcement from the university. It is taking over an adjacent 995-square-foot space previously home to Subway.
The spot, which has been open since 2014, will be adding bright, open space with seating designed for group study and meetups. It will also feature a grab-and-go pickup area and expanded power access for customers.
Construction will be completed in Q2 of 2026, according to the announcement.
Launched in 2012 by Lipscomb alumnus Rob Touchstone, The Well Coffeehouse is a nonprofit organization based on the mission of “turning coffee into water.” Proceeds earned at the coffee shops go toward bringing safe water to people around the world. Thus far, the organization has completed 82 water projects across 25 countries and has impacted more than 500,000 people, according to The Well Coffeehouse website.
“We are excited that this expansion will give students a more comfortable place to study, connect and spend time throughout the day while strengthening our partnership with the Lipscomb and Green Hills communities and advancing our mission of Turning Coffee Into Water,” CEO Mark Barns said in the announcement from Lipscomb University.
There are other locations on Music Row, in Brentwood, in Franklin, in Bellevue and in Fishers, Indiana.
