A miniature doughnut franchise is opening its first California location in the Sacramento area.

Dapper Doughnut is expanding to a 1,388-square-foot location at 2330 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 120 in Rocklin’s Stanford Plaza, a bustling retail center at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Stanford Ranch Road, reports the Sacramento Business Journal.

The franchise’s website lists the Rocklin shop as “coming soon,” and Instagram posts from @dapperdoughnutnorcal show the keys and the empty space, teasing the upcoming opening: “Dapper is coming to…… ROCKLIN, CA 👀🍩”

Dapper Doughnut specializes in mini doughnuts made fresh to order, offered in both classic and creative flavors such as Maple Bacon, Fluffernutter, Birthday Cake, Apple Pie, and Chocolate Sprinkles. The menu also includes the brand’s original Doughnut Milkshakes, waffle cone ice creams, premium espresso-based drinks, and other complementary beverages. Location-specific offerings will be shared once final menu planning is complete.

The Rocklin outpost will be operated by Northern California franchisee Jasreet Barn, who earned her MBA in 2024 and currently works as a property accounting analyst for a large corporation. Barn said she has long dreamed of owning her own business and was drawn to Dapper Doughnut while researching franchise opportunities.

“I really wanted to bring a change to the doughnut landscape and kind of start a new frontier and really invest in the industry,” Barn told What Now Sacramento. “A lot of the doughnut shops we have here in California feel outdated, and looking more into Dapper, I thought it was a perfect opportunity because there are so many doughnuts and they’re all made-to-order.”

Barn and her family-led investment group have committed to a 10-territory, non-exclusive development plan across Northern California. The territories span Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Davis, Elk Grove, Manteca, Livermore, San Jose, and San Francisco, with each territory allowing for both a retail storefront and a mobile food trailer.

The focus is currently on launching the Rocklin location, though the group is actively scouting additional sites and is in the process of locking-in another Sacramento-area storefront. Ultimately, they plan to open either a retail shop or mobile food trailer approximately every six months, potentially growing to as many as 20 operating locations across the region over time.

“I want to be able to bring back that nostalgia of fresh doughnuts, not doughnuts that have been sitting in a window for hours,” Barn said. “I’m excited to bring something unique to NorCal and really change the whole doughnut experience.”

Danny Grammenopoulos, president of Dapper Doughnut, said that construction at the Rocklin site is currently underway, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.
