A Memphis-based chemical plant is set to close, affecting more than 170 employees. The employees affected by the closure will receive the necessary support during the transition.
PMC Biogenix to Close Permanently in April 2026
PMC Biogenix, Inc., filed a WARN notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The notice states the company’s Memphis plant will permanently close on April 26, 2026. The closure will affect employees at the plant, who will need government support.
PMC Biogenix is an innovation-driven developer, manufacturer, and marketer of specialty chemicals. These are chemicals produced using renewable resources. The company has more than 50 years of experience producing specialty chemical products.
Effect of the Closure
The closure of PMC Biogenix will affect 172 employees, including 122 union-represented workers. The company notified the department’s Dislocated Worker Unit on February 26, 2026, of the same. It is to ensure that union employees are covered under their collective bargaining agreement. However, the non-union employees will not have bumping rights.
Now, the Greater Memphis Local Workforce Development Area rapid response team will work with the company. Together, they will support the affected workers through this transition. They will offer help such as job assistance, training or reskilling, and connections to new employers.
