The Tennessee health department conducted a health inspection at The Pfunky Griddle on March 17. The restaurant was reported for violations, which led to it receiving a score of 76 during the routine check.

The Pfunky Griddle is a daytime breakfast spot in Nashville serving pancakes. According to the report, the eatery was cited for the following violations:
- An employee was found drinking from a coffee cup without using a straw. Staff received a refresher on proper beverage handling.
- The report said an employee washed dishes but did not wash their hands afterward. Staff received handwashing training.
- An employee was handling biscuits without wearing gloves. Staff were trained on proper glove use and safe handling of ready-to-eat foods.
- The dishwashing machine had not reached the required sanitizing concentration (10 ppm). The restaurant will have it repaired.

- The report noted that the gravy held in a food warmer was measured at 95°F. The item was reheated to 165°F as a corrective measure.
- Raw bacon was left at room temperature near a reach-in cooler. The item was promptly cooled to 41°F.
- Thermometers were missing from an upright refrigerator and a reach-in cooler near the register, the report mentioned.
- A heavy buildup was observed on the hood system.
- The dumpster’s side door was found open.
- The report noted a buildup on a vent near the clean dishes.

Follow-up Inspection

According to the report, the risk factor items are to be corrected within 10 days. Failure to do so may lead to the revocation of the food service establishment permit, it said.
