A classic restaurant in the suburb looks to be going through a major change this year.

Royal Oak’s Iron Horse is pausing operations for a short time while work is being done on the inside, per a report from Crain’s Detroit Business. It has not been revealed if this is a concept change or only renovations. Owner Tony Prainito announced the last day of operations for now is March 21.

“We’ll be closed for a short time while we work on what’s next,” says the recent post.

Iron Horse originally opened in early 2015, and was debuted by Ronin Sushi partner John Hanna. This is next to the Royal Oak Music Theater at the corner of S Lafayette Avenue. Those walking by notice the restaurant ‘s name in gothic letters, also next to 4th Street Tattoo.

It has not been confirmed if the menu will go through any changes, but popular items include tacos, pizza, burgers and sandwiches. Specialty cocktails are also prepared, like their Kentucky Blackberry Mule featuring blackberry-infused bourbon, lemon juice and ginger beer. The location has weekly deals like $3 tacos and beers all night on Taco Tuesday, and $6 margaritas on Margarita Wednesday.

Prainito is also the owner of Black Cat Coffee, Maes’s and Bath City Bistro all in Mount Clemens. His other Royal Oak business is Atomic Coffee at 401 S Main Street. Prior to the reopening, Prainito will be revealing more information on Iron Horse’s Facebook page.
