Summerville is set to get a little sweeter this summer.
Swank Creamery, an offshoot of specialty dessert shop Swank Desserts, is opening at 110 South Cedar St., Unit C, right next to its sister store in Unit A. Owned by Danetra Richardson, the shop will build on the same vision behind everything at Swank Desserts, according to a Facebook post.
“This has been awhile in the making, but we leased unit C so that we can have a space strictly dedicated to making you the most luscious ice creams, more cookies (because warm cookies + ice cream), and espresso!” the post read.
The ice cream will be made entirely from scratch using locally sourced dairy. Known for its viral banana pudding, Swank Desserts will bring the signature flavor to Swank Creamery with a banana pudding ice cream.
Richardson launched the dessert shop in 2015 as an online business before opening its first brick-and-mortar location in late 2019. Now, the creamery adds a new sweet chapter to the brand’s growing portfolio.
“We’re looking forward to transforming our little block into a full dessert destination and bringing something bold, nostalgic, and fun to our community,” the post read.
An official opening date has not been set. Richardson recently secured the space and is building it out. Follow along on Instagram for updates.
