Kung Fu Tea, the perennial-favorite Taiwanese-sourced bubble tea shop, is preparing to launch its first location in Bastrop this summer. With hundreds of locations operating across the U.S., particularly in the northeastern states, the brand is now building out its footprint in central Texas.

“I’ve been a big personal fan of the brand for quite some time,” Stephen Thomas, the franchisee behind the Bastrop location, told What Now on Thursday. “We have a lot of them in the Northeast, where I’m from, and when I saw a lot of the development and growth that’s happening in the Bastrop area, I wanted to take the opportunity to bring the brand there.”

According to a TDLR filing, the location at 663 West State Highway 71 will be under construction from April 20 until June 26. It’s a $250,000 renovation of a 1,500 square foot space, in Suite 111.

“At Kung Fu Tea, our commitment to quality begins at the source. We use only real tea leaves, handpicked from the pristine high mountains of Taiwan,” says the Kung Fu Tea website. “For ultimate freshness, our tea is freshly brewed every three hours. Beyond sourcing, we prioritize your trust: all products and ingredients undergo rigorous, regular SGS testing to confirm they meet the strictest quality standards, guaranteed to be lead and heavy metal free. This is our promise: to deliver a safe, premium, and unmatched tea experience.”

Best Sellers from the Kung Fu Tea menu include the classic Kung Fu Milk Tea (Our signature beverage—the drink that started it all! A creamy blend of our fragrant, freshly brewed earl grey tea, cane sugar, and milk powder) and Winter Melon Milk Tea (refreshing winter melon, jasmine green tea, and milk powder. Sweet and smooth).

Asked what his go-to order is, Thomas says is the Mango Milk Tea. For this writer, the go-to is Taro Milk Tea. But whether you’re on the milk tea train or looking for slushes, matchas, or classic fruit teas, you’re sure to find something you’re into!
