A trio of entrepreneurs is getting ready to pour out a fresh cup for Memphis-area coffee enthusiasts. The team of Ibraham Almuntser, Abdul Daras and Yassar Fidel will be opening a new java joint called Ray Mah Cafe this spring, and it promises to be a massive arrival for local coffee fans, reports Memphis Flyer.

The new establishment will be moving into 3895 Hacks Cross Road. According to a certificate of occupancy filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, the 8,500 square foot storefront will have an occupant load of 99.

Ray Mah Cafe will be a full coffee experience; the concept will be roasting its beans in house. The cafe will be more than just great java, however; Almunster states that Ray Mah will also be serving desserts, fresh juice, and ice cream. He states: “We’re working with a cake designer. She will bake and make the sweets here on site.”

While it will have a focus on Yemeni brews, Ray Mah will be pouring specialty coffees from a variety of global locations. Ownership wants the concept to be a place where visitors can relax and enjoy a drink or snack; Almunster explains: “I’m telling you, we kind of went crazy getting this place to look good for students to come do their homework in a good environment. Or FedEx employees to have their business meetings.”

Ray Mah-whose Instagram boasts it is the “Largest Cafe Space in Memphis”-is on track to open in early May. Its debut will only be the opening salvo, however. Almunster, Daras, and Fidel intend to franchise the concept.
