Polaris Inc. has announced the closure of its Osceola manufacturing facility, which will result in the loss of 189 jobs. The company plans to begin the layoffs in July, according to a WARN notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Polaris is Closing Its Osceola Facility, Leading to Job Cuts

Polaris, a manufacturer of powersports vehicles, filed a notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act and announced the permanent closure of its facility at 108 Industrial Drive in Osceola.

The closure and layoffs will take place in phases starting from July 27, 2026, through January 31, 2027. The filing did not cite a reason for the decision but outlined the affected job titles.

According to a report by The Minnesota Star Tribune, employees were informed about the closure in January. It also stated that the closure is related to the sale of the company’s Indian Motorcycle brand.

In October 2025, Polaris announced the decision to separate Indian Motorcycle into a standalone company and the sale of the majority stake to Carolwood LP. The deal was expected to close in the first quarter of 2026. With the transaction, the company aims to strengthen the rest of its portfolio.

Inside the Company

Polaris Inc., founded in 1954, produces snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and motorcycles. The company is headquartered in Medina, Minnesota, and operates several manufacturing plants across North America.

Polaris continues to develop new products aligned with shifting market trends as it expands its global presence.

Recently, Polaris collaborated with an automotive influencer, Cleetus McFarland, to engage the motorsports community. The joint venture was dedicated to increasing brand awareness through events, content, and collaborations, targeting high-performance vehicles and appealing to a younger audience.

Athlete Brock Heger, who is sponsored by Polaris, demonstrated the company’s off-road capabilities at the elite “2026 Mint 400 Race” last month.

The company also introduced the Signature Edition of its Polaris Slingshot, featuring innovative tech and customizable options for a unique driving experience.

Polaris’s decision to close its Osceola plant is a major shift for the company and the local workforce.
