Arcana, a new hidden cocktail bar concept, is getting ready to open in Encinitas along Highway 101 next door to The Roxy Encinitas at 517 S Coast Hwy 101.

This is the latest from the owners of The Roxy Encinitas, with a sister concept, Roxy on Broadway in Denver, according to a press release. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, Arcana is expected to debut in late May. The 47-seat bar will offer a menu centered on innovative craft cocktails alongside a selection of small bites in an intimate setting. The concept is designed as a hidden cocktail den for those seeking a more immersive experience.

Arcana draws its name from the idea of hidden knowledge, centered on mysteries that unfold layer by layer when discovered. This theme carries throughout the experience, beginning with the entrance. Customers will pass through an astrolabe-inspired door, referencing an instrument historically used to navigate time and space. From there, the space is intended to feel removed from the outside world.

Inside, the bar is designed as an immersive environment that blends different eras and influences. The space features jewel-toned velvet curtains, candlelit interiors, and a mix of visual references, including pre-war European salons and post-war social spaces. The layout and design aim to create a setting that feels more like a memory or a vision than a traditional bar.

The interior design incorporates contrast through materials and textures. Plush velvet seating is paired with quartzite and marble surfaces, while darker walls are balanced with brass accents and warm lighting. A cathedral-style back bar serves as a focal point, adding structure and visual depth to the space.

The menu at Arcana will focus on innovative craft cocktails, supported by a small selection of food offerings. The concept is built around a limited seating capacity, allowing for a more controlled and intimate environment. Arcana is intended to be a space not fully understood, but experienced over time.
