Jjang Korean BBQ, an all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue restaurant, is getting ready to open a new location in Escondido at 329 West Felicita Avenue.

The company’s second location is planned for the former Sierra Madre Cantina space in Felicita Plaza, according to documents recently submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the filing indicates the company is moving forward with its expansion into North County.

What Now San Diego previously reported on the company’s first location in La Mesa, which opened at 3637 Avocado Boulevard after replacing a former IHOP. At the time, owner Karam Solaiman told What Now he planned to bring an authentic Korean barbecue experience to East County with a wide selection of meats and classic Korean side dishes. The upcoming Escondido restaurant marks the company’s second location as it continues to grow its presence in San Diego County. Like the original restaurant, the new location is expected to focus on communal dining, where customers cook their meals at tabletop grills.

The restaurant will join Felicita Plaza, a nearly 100,000-square-foot shopping center anchored by Vons. Other tenants include Chuze Fitness, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Brigantine Restaurant, Panda Express, Chase Bank, and several local businesses. This will be an excellent landing space for Jjang Korean BBQ, considering the center serves a dense residential population and draws millions of annual visits, according to the shopping center’s leasing brochure.

Jjang Korean BBQ offers dozens of all-you-can-eat options, including marinated beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and vegetables, all prepared for tabletop grilling, according to the company’s website. Meals are complemented by a selection of house-made sauces and traditional Korean side dishes, creating the interactive dining experience the cuisine is known for.

Korean barbecue centers around cooking marinated meats directly at the table, allowing customers to prepare each bite to their preference while sharing the meal with family and friends. Alongside grilled meats, diners can expect classic accompaniments such as kimchi, pickled vegetables, and other banchan that round out the traditional Korean barbecue experience.
