An award winning spot for spirits is heading west for their new location.
North Shore Distillery is moving to a new location after 10 years from Green Oaks to 901 E Orchard Street in Mundelein, per a report from The Daily Herald. The distillery will be accompanied by a tasting room at another address in the village. Husband-and-wife duo Sonja and Derek Kassebaum are hoping to reopen their business sometime in June.
North Shore Distillery was founded in 2004, and has been serving the northern suburbs ever since. They are famous for the Distiller’s Gin No. 6, winning several awards in the area. Their cocktail menu has a wide range of gins mixed with citrus, grapefruit and cinnamon flavors, and the Green Oaks tasting room also offers small bites.
“We’ve made a lot of great memories in the last ten years at our current location, but the time has come for us to move, and we’ve found a great new spot!” Says a recent post on their Instagram page.
When North Shore Distillery opened, it was known as the original craft distillery in the state. Along with the production area, the Kassebaums also operate a cocktail bar at their current location. Sonja told What Now Chicago it is hard to know an opening date for the new distillery as there are “too many variables right now.”
The industrial building is just east of downtown Mundelein, which currently houses ETS Performance gym and The Den softball training facility. This area is home to other warehouses and industrial buildings. Inside, the warehouse may have a space for seating and sampling.
From now until April 29, the business is having a moving sale on furniture and decor items at the Green Oaks location. More information can be found on their website.
