A gourmet food producer is preparing to open a grocery store and commercial kitchen in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood.
Kensington Food Company, veteran-owned by Thomas Sheridan, will debut at 3437 D. St., Unit 110. It will join the company’s flagship spot in Reading Terminal Market.
The shop specializes in handcrafted, artisanal infused oils, with standout offerings like King Kenzo organic extra-virgin olive oil, ghost pepper–infused olive oil and spicy parmesan-and-garlic olive oil. It also offers vinegars, truffle products, relishes, jams, butters, sauces, pasta, meats and cheeses.
Popular products include Kensington Puerto Rican–style pique hot sauce, organic priest strangler strozzapreti pasta, sweet fire pickles and King Kenzo orange blossom hot honey.
The staff brings deep product expertise, including a certified olive oil sommelier, a certified balsamic analyst and a certified mixologist on board.
Sheridan runs a blog on the website featuring recipes made with Kensington Food Products, such as a spicy relish smash burger, truffle mashed potatoes, spicy parmesan-garlic linguine with crispy breadcrumbs and a pear balsamic arugula salad with ghost cheese and walnuts.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, Sheridan has shared progress updates on social media, including the arrival of new appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, a griddle and a stovetop.
He is also seeking a dumpster service and a company specializing in commercial kitchen cleaning.
