Lebanon may be many hundred miles from Maryland, but authentic Lebanese cuisine is getting closer than ever for Gaithersburg diners. Acclaimed Florida concept Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen has been making moves towards opening in the area and is preparing to take the next step-a liquor license hearing, reports local media outlet MoCo Show.

Kareem’s is opening at 212 Boardwalk Place in the storefront that previously housed Bach to Rock. An official opening date is not yet available for the restaurant, however notice has been posted in the window about the concept’s upcoming liquor control board meeting, which provides a bit of general framework.

Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen’s license hearing with the Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services Board will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 9:30 am. Generally speaking, attaining a liquor license indicates an eatery is relatively close to an opening, though this is not gospel. Gaithersburg foodies can be cautiously optimistic that the restaurant will be ready to greet and feed them in the relatively near future.

What Now DC has reached out to ownership and will update readers as details emerge.

Helmed by Chef Rachid Eido, Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen strives to bring “a taste of authentic Lebanese cuisine” to visitors through dishes including chicken farrouj and salmon harra.
