La Rotonde, a new coffee, music, and wine-focused concept, is getting ready to open in Hillcrest at 3968 Fifth Ave.

The new concept will move into the former home of Makai Sushi, according to a liquor license application and window signage at the property. The concept is being developed by Valle Hospitality Group LLC, founded by Karlo and Mariel Valle. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the company’s website states that it is expected to open in summer 2026.

With little additional information released, La Rotonde appears to be positioning itself as a hybrid space that combines daytime coffee service with an evening wine component, alongside music as part of the overall experience. No menu details or interior plans have been shared publicly at this time.

This will be an excellent landing space for La Rotonde, given its location directly across from the Village Hillcrest shopping center on Fifth Avenue. This is also one of the neighborhood’s most active pedestrian areas, with consistent foot traffic from nearby retail, dining, and residential buildings. That mix of daytime and evening activity could support a concept built around coffee service during the day and wine in the evening.

At this time, no further operational details have been released, but more information is expected as the opening timeline approaches and licensing progresses.
