Plank, a neighborhood entertainment and dining destination, has announced to shut its doors. After nearly 12 years in operation, the business has struggled with declining foot traffic. Closure is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Plank Announces Permanent Closure

On May 30, 2026, Plank announced the closure on Instagram. The venue is known for combining dining, arcade games, and recreational activities under one roof. Located at 98 Broadway in Oakland’s Jack London Square, the venue is embraced as “Oakland’s Own.”

The team said the business has struggled to sustain itself over the past two years. A significant and persistent drop in sales and rising costs have forced the closure. The team called it a memorable run of nearly 12 years.

The team thanked and appreciated the Oakland community for making it a place filled with energy, celebrations, laughter, and memories. The post read, “We’re deeply grateful for every birthday party, corporate event, happy hour, bowling night, date night, and gathering shared with us over the years.”

The post also thanked team members for their efforts and guest experiences. The team encouraged patrons to visit before the final day, writing, “Until our final day, we look forward to welcoming you back to celebrate, reminisce, and make a few more memories together.”

Oakland Waterfront Entertainment Venue Since 2014

Plank is an approximately 50,000 square foot entertainment and dining center on the waterfront at Jack London Square in Oakland. Since it opened in 2014, it has been a restaurant, beer garden, bowling alley, arcade games, and event space all in one. It is a place for families, friends, and corporate groups to gather.

It is known for combining food, drinks, and recreation in one location. Guests enjoy burgers, pizzas, salads, shared plates, and other casual dishes. 18 bowling lanes, over 50 arcade games, bocce, and a large, outdoor patio overlooking the waterfront attract visitors.

The venue later introduced The Hub, a sports-centered, social area with a 30-foot media wall. Plank is famous for live music, hosting weekly events, private functions, and community gatherings as well.

As Plank prepares for closure, events and parties planned before closure will be hosted as usual. For events scheduled after August 2, the team will refund the deposits. Customers are also suggested by the Plank team to redeem their gift cards or game cards with credit before the closure.
