Other Side Diner, the neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot at 500 Washington Avenue in Portland, Maine, has been sold to new ownership, according to Portland Old Port and Portland Food Map. Founders Peter and Jessica Sueltenfuss announced the sale, with their last day as owners taking place this past Sunday. Taking over the diner are Danielle Dubois and Dan Washington, who plan to reopen the restaurant sometime in July, with more details expected in the coming weeks.
The Sueltenfusses opened Other Side Diner in 2019, building it into one of the Washington Avenue corridor’s most dependable neighborhood staples. With about 35 seats and a warm, minimalist interior, the diner became a go-to for locals seeking house-made meals with quality ingredients, featuring standout breakfast plates, hearty sandwiches, and seasonal specials made entirely in-house.
The transition brings two familiar faces to the helm. Dubois joined the Other Side Diner team last year, making her transition to co-owner a natural one. Washington brings several years of cooking experience from Miss Portland Diner. Together, they represent a next chapter that feels rooted in the same community the diner has always served.
The exact changes coming to the menu have not yet been announced, but longtime customers can expect the restaurant to remain close to the neighborhood diner that has built a loyal following over the years.
