A popular Plymouth tavern is on the move.
Gillis Family Tavern is officially relocating from its longtime home at the historic Jenny Grist Mill (6 Spring Lane) to the former site of Proof 22 at 22 Main Street in downtown Plymouth, according to The Patriot Ledger. The tavern’s final day of service at the mill location was May 31, 2026.
The move brings the neighborhood favorite just a short distance away, but into a space the owners say better fits their long-term goals. The larger Main Street building will help the team ease long-standing space constraints and avoid ongoing construction challenges at the former site.
Before becoming Gillis Family Tavern in 2023, the mill space was home to local favorite Lucioso’s Pub. Today, Gillis Family Tavern is known for its cozy New England comfort food, including chicken wings, clam chowder, fish and chips, prime rib, pizzas, and a lineup of burgers, handhelds, and fresh salads. Guests can also expect a full selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
The original space at the Jenny Grist Mill became especially popular for its relaxed, sports-friendly atmosphere, with comfortable seating, multiple big screens, and a setting that encouraged lingering by the fireplace or out on the deck overlooking the historic mill.
While an official opening date for the new Main Street location has not yet been announced, the team says they’re aiming for a summer debut. “Thank you for all the support, memories, and good times,” Gillis Family Tavern wrote on Facebook. “We can’t wait to share what’s next with you.”
