It looks like a fast-casual taquería is preparing to expand in Boston, and it could be bringing a sweet new concept along with it.

La Neta, the fast-casual taquería from local restaurateur Allan Rodríguez, is slated to open its second location at 100 City Hall Plaza in downtown Boston, according to a document recently shared on the Downtown Boston Facebook page. A recent Instagram story from the business also suggests the new space will share a footprint with Churrería 52, a brand-new concept from Rodríguez.

La Neta’s original location opened on Newbury Street in 2019. Celebrated for its casual menu rooted in traditional Mexican flavors, the taquería serves everything from tacos, burritos, and quesadillas to nachos, salads, and combination plates. Fan favorite dishes include the Al Pastor Taco, Carne Asada Burrito, Barbacoa Plate, and Chorizo Quesadilla.

Based on the eatery’s Instagram page, Churrería 52 appears to specialize in churros in a range of inventive forms and “flavors you never knew you needed.” Early previews showcase varieties including sprinkle-coated churros, churros topped with dulce de leche, and chocolate-dipped versions.

A native of Mexico, Rodríguez arrived in Boston in 2000 with just $600. Five years later, he founded AR Contracting Services before making his mark in the restaurant industry with the opening of El Centro Mexican Restaurant. He eventually expanded his portfolio with La Neta and, in 2023, opened mezcal and tapas bar Sabina Mezcaleria next door to the taquería’s original Newbury Street location.

The restaurateur’s growing collection of concepts continues to earn recognition. Just weeks ago, La Neta, El Centro, and Sabina Mezcaleria were all named among Boston’s Best Mexican Restaurants by Boston Common Magazine for the second consecutive year.

Most recently, Rodríguez launched nine, a French-inspired fine-dining concept that took over the former No. 9 Park space in Beacon Hill. Since opening in August 2025, the restaurant has drawn crowds with its three distinct dining experiences: a seasonal tasting menu, an à la carte menu, and a dedicated bar menu.

Rodríguez could not be reached for comment, and an official opening date has not yet been announced. However, project documents mention that the new La Neta x Churrería 52 location is expected to debut before the end of 2026.
