An American footwear and accessories brand is making its return to Boston.
Cole Haan is opening a new store at the Prudential Center in the city’s Back Bay, joining a growing roster of incoming retailers at the shopping mall. The new shop will take over the former Kate Spade space, positioned directly across from Alo at 800 Boylston Street, Suite 133.
“Soon you will be able to shop Cole Haan’s premium high-quality, comfortable, stylish footwear in-store (and then stopping for a sweet next door at Läderach),” Prudential Center recently shared on its website.
Founded in Chicago in 1928 by Trafton Cole and Eddie Haan, Cole Haan began as a men’s premium leather footwear label before evolving into a global lifestyle brand known for reshaping dress shoes with its signature comfort-driven “hybrid” designs.
Today, the brand offers a full range of footwear, apparel, and accessories for men and women, including dress shoes, loafers, sneakers, sandals, boots, outerwear, and bags. Its design philosophy blends classic American style with modern materials and comfort-first engineering, for an aesthetic the company describes as “future familiar.”
The company previously operated a standalone location on Newbury Street, but it shuttered in 2021. The brand still maintains a nearby presence at its Cole Haan Outlet store in Assembly Row, offering discounted styles just outside the city.
Representatives for Cole Haan and the Prudential Center could not immediately be reached for comment, and an official opening date has not yet been announced. What Now Boston will update this story as additional details are released.
