The French Kitchen, a classic French restaurant led by chef Didier Leroy, is getting ready to open in Toronto’s Junction neighborhood at 3054 Dundas Street West.
The new concept is set to move into the former home of Bunner’s Bake Shop, according to Toronto Life. The French Kitchen is scheduled to open on June 25, 2026, with reservations already available ahead of the launch. Leroy, who recently departed LSL, is leading the restaurant’s culinary program. Customers can expect a seasonal five-course tasting menu featuring classic French cuisine and multiple options within each course.
The French Kitchen marks Leroy’s return to restaurant operations following his announcement of his departure from LSL in late 2025. At the time, he said he planned to focus on mentoring younger chefs and developing an apprenticeship program. Instead, he joined a new restaurant project after being approached by a former LSL customer who secured the Junction space and needed a chef to lead the concept.
Leroy brings approximately 50 years of culinary experience to the restaurant. He was one of the chefs behind LSL, the Toronto tasting menu restaurant that opened in 2024. Former LSL team member Matthieu Arteau has also joined the project and will serve as maître d’.
The French Kitchen will feature a 20-seat dining room and a seasonal five-course tasting menu priced at $148 per person. Diners will be able to choose among options within each course rather than receiving a completely fixed menu. Expected dishes include escargot, tartare, and quail, while optional wine pairings will also be available.
The restaurant occupies a historic Junction building and plans to add a more casual bar space in a future phase of the project. Leroy has also spent time meeting with residents and sourcing ingredients from local suppliers as preparations continue ahead of opening day.
