Candeeland, an indoor playground and family entertainment concept, is preparing to open a new location in Mission Valley at 1640 Camino del Rio N.

The company’s new corporate-owned location is set to occupy a vacant retail space at Mission Valley Mall, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Founder Pete Cho tells What Now San Diego that the Mission Valley project is expected to open in December 2026. The new site is part of a broader expansion strategy that also includes a Northridge location opening this month and another San Bernardino location scheduled for December 2026. Customers can expect a large indoor play space featuring interactive attractions, arcade games, and a themed candy-inspired environment designed for families with young children.

Candeeland first launched as a vibrant indoor play center that combined physical activity with imaginative experiences for kids. The brand currently operates locations across Southern California, including Carlsbad, and has continued to scale its footprint through both corporate-owned and licensed locations. Its Carlsbad opening at The Shoppes at Carlsbad marked one of its early regional expansions in San Diego County.

The Mission Valley filing follows a wave of new development activity by the company as it continues to build out additional sites across the region. According to prior company information, corporate-owned locations are typically managed directly by the brand, while select Los Angeles-area stores are structured as licensed operations. The expansion reflects ongoing demand for indoor entertainment venues that combine play areas, food options, and event hosting spaces.

Each Candeeland location includes climbing structures, slides, interactive play zones, and arcade games, as well as a cafe and candy store that offer snacks and drinks. The facilities also include private party rooms designed for birthdays and group events, which remain a major part of the business model.

The Mission Valley site will add to the growing concentration of family entertainment offerings in the area, particularly within Mission Valley Mall, which continues to attract experiential tenants aimed at drawing regional foot traffic.
