Thursday Boot Co. is coming to Texas! The premier boot company is planning for its first Texas opening. The plan is to open the first Texas location in Houston’s Rice Village at 5407 Kelvin Drive, according to the Houston Business Journal.

“New stores are very much a “goldilocks’ situation where you’re looking for somewhere close to your existing customers, an appropriate space you can transform into a beautiful store, and the right terms and partners that will allow a store to thrive long-term,” Thursday Boot Co. Co-Founder, Connor Wilson, said in an interview with What Now Houston.

“We’re excited about this opportunity and hope this will be a hidden gem that serves Houston for many years to come.”

Wilson founded the brand in 2014 with his then Columbia Business School classmate Nolan Walsh. The name “Thursday” reflects their vision of an ultra-versatile, everyday boot perfect for both the workweek and the weekend.

“We started in 2014 because we couldn’t find the right pair of boots,” Wilsaon said.

“Everything was some combination of uncomfortable, expensive, low-quality, or weirdly designed. We saw an opportunity to design the perfect boot that combined durability, versatility, and comfort. And by going directly to our customers, we can provide a totally unique value and harness the internet’s power to stay close to what our customers want most.”

Thursday Boot Company is a direct-to-consumer footwear brand known for bridging the gap between rugged workwear and sleek, everyday fashion. The brand specializes in high-quality, durable leather boots, sneakers, and shoes designed to be versatile enough for both “work and play.

“Obviously, fit is incredibly important within footwear, but there’s also an opportunity to build on our Team Thursday community in person,” Wilson said.

“Now we get to host our own in-store events and meet daily with our customers, whether that’s to try on boots, attend a whiskey tasting, or enjoy complimentary cobbler services.”

While Thursday Boot Co. started by selling exclusively to men, its incredible online success allowed the brand to expand its catalog, stepping heavily into the women’s footwear market in 2016. Their diverse collection today ranges from their signature casual boots, like the Captain and Scout, to specialized US-made models, like the Vanguard.

The brand currently has five Thursday Boot Co. retail locations, with expansion plans underway to bring its total footprint to nine stores across the United States.

“While we’re adding four new stores this year, we’re proceeding slowly and deliberately in our retail expansion,” Wilson said.

“The goal is to create unique spaces that serve our customers first and foremost. If they’re happy, we’re happy, and that’s how we measure our success.”

The brand continued to build momentum on its success, and this new Texas opening is a good indicator of what’s to come from Thursday Boot Co.

“We have many friends in Houston and have been incredibly fortunate to experience the city’s hospitality. We are now thrilled to finally return the favor and serve everyone in person,” Wilson said.
