Jimmy John’s is preparing to open a new restaurant at 5722 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, replacing the former Sonic Drive-In at the corner of Kingston Pike and Gore Road. Knox News Instagram page first reported the project, revealing that construction is underway at the Bearden site, which is located across from Bearden Elementary School.

Although work on the restaurant is progressing, customers will have to wait a little longer before stopping in for a sandwich. A Jimmy John’s spokesperson told Knox News it is still too early to confirm an opening date for the new location.

The redevelopment will breathe new life into the former drive-in property, introducing another quick-service dining option along the heavily traveled Kingston Pike corridor. The project is among the latest restaurant developments reshaping one of Knoxville’s busiest commercial districts.

According to the Jimmy John’s website, the brand serves made-to-order sandwiches, wraps and sides for pickup, delivery and catering and operates thousands of locations across the United States. The new Knoxville restaurant is owned by franchisees John Kleban and Mike Mayes.

The addition will further expand Jimmy John’s presence in the Knoxville market, where the brand already operates multiple restaurants. Once complete, the Kingston Pike location will offer another convenient option for residents, commuters and nearby businesses in the Bearden community.
