June brought several notable restaurant closures across New York. The closures included four well-known restaurants across the city. The list ranges from a longtime Upper East Side steakhouse to a farm-to-table restaurant in Ridgewood.
New York Restaurants Closed in June 2026
Village Green, Craft, Donohue’s Steak House, and Cozy Soup ‘n’ Burger all closed in June 2026. Here’s a closer look at each closure.
Village Green Restaurant

A longstanding favorite, Village Green Restaurant closed its doors on June 6, 2026. The restaurant occupied a historic 1896 carriage house on Prospect Street in Ridgewood. Chef-owner Kevin Portscher operated the restaurant for the past 15 years.
“Thank you again for believing in us and supporting our business. We are honored to be part of this community and appreciate each and every one of you,” said the team.

Donohue’s Steak House
Donohue’s Steak House has shut down its Manhattan Lexington Avenue location after 76 years of operation. The family-run steakhouse served its final meal on June 19. It offered an old-school atmosphere and classic steakhouse dishes.
Although the original Manhattan location has closed, the Donohue family will continue operating its Westhampton Beach restaurant. The family also plans to open a new restaurant on Long Island, continuing the Donohue family’s restaurant legacy. Read more about the restaurant here.

Cozy Soup ‘n’ Burger

After over half a century of service, Cozy Soup ‘n’ Burger has permanently closed. The landmark NoHo diner served its final customers on June 22. In the closure announcement, the restaurant team cited rising operating costs and slower business as the reasons for its closure.
The diner was known for its burgers, homemade soups, all-day breakfast, and unlimited coffee refills. It had cozy booths, vintage diner decor, and a welcoming atmosphere. More information about the restaurant is available here.

Craft

Chef Tom Colicchio founded Craft in 2001. The restaurant served its final guests on June 27, ending a nearly 25-year run.
The restaurant was awarded the James Beard Award in 2002 for ‘Best New Restaurant’. The restaurant also received widespread acclaim and numerous industry accolades over the years.
