After decades of service, the farm-to-table restaurant in the Ridgewood neighborhood is set to close permanently. The Village Green Restaurant will serve its final meal on June 6, marking the end of its legacy. The restaurant team announced the closure on social media.

Local Favorite Village Green Restaurant to Close Doors

The Village Green Restaurant is well-known for serving New American cuisine. However, the most attractive feature of the restaurant is its location on Prospect Street in Ridgewood, New Jersey and it is situated inside a historic 1896 carriage house.

The restaurant has built its reputation with seasonal tasting menus, a BYOB policy, and a classic food menu. It offers signature dishes like crispy duck breast, braised short ribs, and chocolate peanut butter tarts.

In the official announcement post, the restaurant owner shared, “After many wonderful years, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that our restaurant will be closing its doors.”

The owner reflected on the journey of the restaurant and mentioned that the restaurant has been part of the community since 1989. Chef and owner Kevin Portscher has been managing the restaurant for the last 15 years.

In the Facebook post, Kevin added, “To all of our loyal customers, thank you. Thank you for supporting us through the years, celebrating your special moments with us, and allowing us to serve this community we love so much. The memories, friendships, and support you’ve given us will never be forgotten.”

“Saturday, June 6th, will be our last service. If you would like to stop by and say goodbye, we would truly love to see you,” said the owner.

Community Response on Social Media

Following the closure announcement, several fans of the restaurant shared heartfelt messages on social media. “I’m so sorry, I know how much that restaurant has meant to you. And what an amazing job you’ve done there!! I have a feeling that if you open another restaurant, you will have many loyal customers fighting to find you,” said one of the fans. Another customer shared cherished memories and wished the team the best for the future.

As the restaurant enters its final chapter of the journey, it hopes to celebrate the farewell with fans and community members.
