Raleigh’s 42nd St. Oyster Bar has shared another update on its anticipated return, revealing that repairs are still underway at its original location at 508 W. Jones Street. In a recent Instagram post by the Triangle Business Journal, the restaurant said work continues behind the scenes as the team moves closer to reopening. According to this post, repairs are the current focus before a timeline can be finalized.
The update comes just weeks after Hunter Correll, the restaurant’s longtime general manager, told the Triangle Business Journal that structural repairs are delaying the reopening and that a more accurate timeline will be available once that work is complete. Correll also noted that the restaurant still plans to reopen, but no opening date has been set.
42nd St. Oyster Bar closed in March 2025 after decades in downtown Raleigh. According to previous reporting by WRAL News, Correll partnered with Chef Joe Rohrer to acquire the concept with plans to preserve the restaurant’s legacy while restoring the historic space.
For now, the latest social media update indicates the project is steadily moving forward, with the team promising to share additional news as work progresses. Fans eager for the restaurant’s return will have to wait a little longer, but the revival remains firmly in motion.
