Bakey, the Boston-based bakery and café known for its handcrafted breads and acclaimed babka, has made its South Florida debut with a new location at 668 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Hallandale Beach.
The café occupies the former Kosher Bagel Cove space and will continue operating as a kosher establishment, certified kosher by the Orthodox Rabbinical Board (ORB) of Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Guests can enjoy all-day breakfast and lunch, along with freshly baked babka, challah, croissants, burekas, sandwiches, salads and more. Bakey also offers premium Italian coffee. The bakery seats 50 guests indoors and 70 on its outdoor patio.
Bakey was founded in 2021 by celebrated baker, cookbook author and restaurateur chef Uri Scheft, whose career includes founding Lehamim Bakery in Tel Aviv. Scheft is widely credited with helping introduce artisanal babka to a broader audience through his James Beard Award-nominated cookbook Breaking Breads.
The company currently operates five locations in the Boston area and is expanding rapidly through a partnership with fellow baker Amir Vadash, whose family operated Vadash Bakery in Israel for more than six decades. In addition to Hallandale Beach, Bakey has plans to open locations in Fort Lauderdale and Aventura in the coming months.
Everything at Bakey is made fresh in-house throughout the day using natural sourdough, unbleached flour and simple ingredients, reflecting the bakery’s philosophy of serving handcrafted food made with “Love, Always.”
