Club Pilates, the reformer-based Pilates franchise, is embarking on another Greater Houston opening. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the new Club Pilates is expected to open in Shepherd Square at 2621 S SHEPHERD SQ STE 260.

The permit further details that construction on the new Club Pilates studio is planned for a mid-September start and is slated to wrap up by mid-November. If all goes well with the estimated $180,000 construction project and permitting, the new Shepherd Square Club Pilates should open by this winter.

At the helm of the opening is the world’s largest Club Pilates franchisee, Spartan Fitness HoldingsWhat Now Houston briefly spoke with the franchisee group’s Senior Construction Project Manager, Mandy Meritts, who was listed on the permit. Meritts confirmed the opening, but the team was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.

“Club Pilates is one of the most recognized and celebrated brands in franchising. Ranked #1 on Franchise Times’ Fast & Serious list two years in a row, named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 for five consecutive years, and featured on the Inc. 5000 three years running — the brand’s track record speaks for itself,” the Spartan Fitness Holdings website reads.

“As one of the largest operators in the system, Spartan operates 170+ studios across 16 states, helping bring the Club Pilates experience to communities across the country.”

Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennesse and founded in 2017, the private equity-backed platform owns and operates more than 160 Club Pilates studios across 16 states and has expanded into other wellness brands like Hand & Stone and VIO Med Spa.

Club Pilates was founded in San Diego in 2007 by Allison Beardsley. Club Pilates “revolutionized the boutique fitness industry” by scaling traditional, reformer-based Pilates into a modernizedaccessible, and affordable group fitness franchise. The company began franchising in 2012, quickly expanding its footprint to more than 30 territories within just two years.
There are now more than 1,300 Club Pilates locations worldwide. But, in North America alone, there are 1,100 studios across 48 states, with California, Florida, and Texas operating the most. There are currently 108 Club Pilates locations across Texas, with more than ten in the Houston city limits and the surrounding metropolitan area.
In 2015, Xponential Fitness acquired the brand. What Now also reached out to Xponential Fitness Chief Executive Officer  Mike Nuzzo to find out more details about the Las Vegas Valley expansion, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“No matter your age, your fitness level, or your goals, your body needs Pilates. Meet your new home away from home! Club Pilates studios offer more than low-impact, full-body workouts. With a range of class offerings that challenge your mind as well as your body, Club Pilates provides a path to a more fulfilling life,” the Club Pilates website reads.
“At a glance, you’ll see that classes at Club Pilates are different than any other workout. The Reformer-based group Pilates classes are complemented by TriggerPoint, TRX® springboard, EXO-chair, and other equipment designed to build strength, mobility, and stability. The amazing instructors at Club Pilates have more training hours across more disciplines than the industry standard. You’ll get individual attention in a fun group setting with other people who know that on life’s journey, it’s best to stay flexible.”
Club Pilates is anticipated to open in Shepherd Square at 2621 S SHEPHERD SQ STE 260  by this winter.
