A French-Asian-inspired bakery is set to open this fall in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood.
Tous Les Jours, which means “every day” in French, will debut on the ground floor of the Eight Two Eight residential complex. Franchisee Sellki Lee will own and operate the bakery.
“I’ve been in the neighborhood for a while. We have a lot of coffee shops and awesome restaurants, but didn’t really have a dessert place with quick grab-and-go cakes,” Lee told What Now Philadelphia.
The interior of the shop will follow the Tous Les Jours model, while adding a little neighborhood charm.
“I think each location has their own little neighborhood vibe. Northern Liberties is a small neighborhood, so I want to make it friendly and welcoming,” she said.
Tous Les Jours specializes in breads, sandwiches and baked goods, including its popular cloud cakes, pastries and pies. The bakery also offers classic coffee, espresso drinks, teas and specialty beverages to pair with its menu.
For newcomers, Lee recommends trying one of the bakery’s cakes.
“I think American-style cakes and Korean-style cakes are very different. They’re soft and light, the cream is light. I would definitely recommend it,” she said.
Lee, a first-time business owner, is eager to open and said neighbors have already shown strong excitement for the shop.
“We’re starting to get construction underway. Everybody is so excited that we’re opening the bakery. Our neighborhood people are very interested. They’re very supportive. I love that feeling,” Lee said. “It’s my first one, doing it myself. It’s like a new beginning for me. A new start.”
Tous Les Jours launched in the U.S. in 2004 and has since grown to more than 100 locations nationwide and more than 1,700 worldwide. The chain currently operates eight locations in the Philadelphia area, most of them in the suburbs, with one in Northeast Philadelphia. The Northern Liberties bakery will further expand the brand’s local footprint.
