New York’s vegan tapas bar Ladybird announces its closure. The iconic bar and restaurant will be closing its doors permanently at the end of this year. The restaurant, operated by Overthrow Hospitality, shared the announcement on Instagram. The group plans to shift focus to its other ventures.

Ladybird to Close at the End of 2026

The plant-based tapas restaurant, Ladybird, is known for its quirky and vegan menu. Located at 111 E 7th St, New York, the restaurant features a dreamy atmosphere decorated with velvet green banquettes and golden accents. It also includes hanging brass planters overflowing with ferns and flowers, which add a rustic and natural tone to the aesthetics.

The East Village restaurant serves shareable plant-based dishes. Menu offerings include kale Caesar salad, tiramisu French toast, and truffle mac.

Managed by Overthrow Hospitality Group, the restaurant team announced the closure news with an emotional message on social media. On July 16, the team stated that after nearly 10 years of service, Ladybird will shut down at the end of 2026. “We have made the difficult decision not to renew our lease,” said the team.

Reflecting on its wonderful journey, they added, “When we opened Ladybird, we set out to create something playful, welcoming, and a little unexpected – a place where incredible food, thoughtful cocktails, and genuine hospitality could come together around a plant-based table.”

In the post, the team thanked the community and its loyal customers for their support. Along with that, the team also encouraged the community members to visit more and be part of Ladybird’s last chapter.

Next Chapter for the Hospitality Group

Apart from Ladybird, the hospitality group also manages several other restaurants, including Al-Andalus, Long Count, and Soda Club. In the post, the team shared that the group is aiming to focus its time, energy, and resources on its other projects.

“Our priority now is growing Soda Club beyond New York, beginning with our first expansion to Denver this fall,” said the team. Michelin Guide-recognized Soda Club is an intimate pasta bar. It serves handmade fresh pastas paired with natural wines.

Even though Ladybird is preparing for its farewell, the hospitality group continues to expand its footprint with other brands. The closure of the vegan bar will have a significant impact on the dining community.
