The Indonesian-inspired coffee concept Hijau is coming to 1432 W. San Carlos St., Suite 70, San Jose, according to a post on the concept’s social media, marking a significant milestone for founders Lisa Maria and Ryan Prawiradjaja. An official opening date has not yet been announced.

The new café will provide a permanent home for the business, which has become known throughout the South Bay for its creative coffee beverages infused with Indonesian flavors and ingredients.

Hijau means “green” in Bahasa Indonesia and was South Bay’s first and only Indonesian specialty coffee pop-up. Founded in 2024, it quickly gained attention through appearances at local farmers’ markets, including the San Jose Rose Garden Farmers Market, where guests lined up for signature drinks showcasing pandan, coconut, lemongrass, ginger, and other Southeast Asian flavors. The concept has earned praise for introducing Bay Area coffee drinkers to Indonesia’s rich coffee heritage while celebrating the country’s culinary traditions.

The café’s menu is expected to feature customer favorites such as the Pandan Latte, Klepon Latte, Soda Gembira, and other specialty beverages highlighting Indonesian-grown coffee beans and tropical ingredients. Hijau has also emphasized educating guests about Indonesian coffee, including beans processed using the country’s traditional giling basah (wet-hulled) method, known for producing earthy, full-bodied flavors.

The new location places Hijau in a busy commercial corridor west of Downtown San Jose, giving customers a dedicated destination after more than two years of following the brand’s rotating pop-up schedule.
