How Whataburger Began

Whataburger was established in 1950. Founder Harmon Dobson set out to create a burger so large customers would need two hands to hold it. He wanted to create something memorable enough to inspire customers to say, “What a burger!”
That idea became the foundation of the brand, which has continued to emphasize made-to-order food and customer service.
The Texas-based chain, which is now headquartered in San Antonio, has over 1,100 restaurants in 17 states. The brand has also launched a grocery line with its famous condiments. It is also looking to expand its digital ordering and Rewards program.
New users who sign up for Whataburger Rewards get a free Whataburger. They also earn points for future menu orders.
