Bruno’s Italian Taste opened at 606 Mission Street in San Francisco in early July. The restaurant celebrates its official grand opening on Thursday, July 30. San Francisco city officials, the Italian Deputy Consul General, and community leaders will be part of the ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony.

Grand Opening of Bruno’s Italian Taste

Bruno’s Italian Taste is a new family-run restaurant with authentic Southern Italy street food. It is a dream-come-true moment for owners Marcella Foti and Fabio Brunocilla.

The grand opening will be celebrated with cake, ribbon cutting, and food tastings. The owners have a Southern Italian background and deep culinary experience. Their menu draws inspiration from Italian cafés, gastronomia counters found in Italian supermarkets, traditional street food, and Roman-style pizza.

The restaurant also received support through the Downtown Vibrancy Loan Fund, part of the city’s effort to revitalize downtown San Francisco. The funding initiative is a partnership between the OEWD and Main Street Launch.

The program offers up to $100,000 in low-interest loans and up to $50,000 in grants to eligible small businesses to encourage job creation, more foot traffic to downtown, and activate vacant storefronts.

During the grand opening, visitors can sample fusilli al pesto and Roman-style Margherita pizza while watching pasta, pizza, and desserts being prepared in the restaurant’s open kitchen.

Bruno’s Italian Taste is the result of years of passion, training, and family tradition. Born in Cosenza, Calabria, Fabio developed his passion for the kitchen by helping his mother and aunts. They used to create homemade pasta, breads, and desserts for family gatherings.

He later studied culinary arts, became a professional pizza chef at Scuola Italiana Pizza in Italy, and took advanced baking classes. Marcella has played an important role in making the dream a reality. She helped set up the couple’s move to San Francisco to introduce their vision of authentic Italian cuisine.

Bruno’s restaurant uses imported ingredients, such as olive oil, cheeses, and specialty products from family-run producers in Italy. Marcella and Fabio hope to share some of the traditions and hospitality that have defined their family and food with their guests and give them a true taste of Italy.

Bruno’s Italian Taste is another locally-owned eatery in downtown San Francisco. The new restaurant, centered around true Italian cuisine and family values, serves a slice of Calabria to the city.
