Play It Again Sports, the used sporting goods chain, plans a new Leander location. According to public filings, the new store will be located at 651 N US Hwy 183, Suite 360.
Play It Again Sports buys, sells, and trades new and used sporting goods and fitness equipment, including gear for golf, baseball, hockey, football, skiing, soccer, and more. Franchise owner Vinh Vuong told What Now Austin the store is on track for an early fall opening.
Vuong said the location was chosen after evaluating vehicle and foot traffic in the Leander area, with the store’s placement next to a HEB grocery store playing a key role. “Our store is gonna be dedicated to the community and families,” he told What Now Austin.
This franchise is run by Vuong and a business partner, both are prior-service military veterans. “We’re just looking to bring something more community and more affordable to the Leander, Cedar Park, Liberty Hill area,” he said, describing the store as faith- and community-based.
For the first month or two after opening, the Leander store will only be buying used equipment from customers, as it builds up inventory before it begins selling. Vuong said the owners plan to expand further in the Austin area in the coming years, but want to get the Leander store running smoothly first.
