A restaurant and nightlife destination is making a comeback to the Lower East Side.
Amaya Mezcal Social will debut at 74 Orchard St., according to business filings.
The space will welcome guests on both the ground floor and mezzanine, with a bar on each level.
The menu will showcase modern Oaxacan cuisine, with shareable bites like chapulines with chile-lime and avocado crema, crispy tlayuda with black beans and quesillo, esquites, and tetelas filled with black beans and squash blossoms.
For main dishes, the restaurant will serve mole negro, featuring roasted half chicken with sesame; costilla asada, a mezcal-adobo short rib with charred scallion; and pescado a la talla, prepared with chile guajillo, citrus and hoja santa.
Diners can finish their meal with Chocolate de Metate mousse, topped with sea salt and mezcal caramel.
Amaya Mezcal Social plans to host DJs several times a month, along with a rotating lineup of programming and special events.
An official opening date has not yet been announced. Once open, the restaurant plans to operate daily from noon to 4 a.m.
