The Bungalow, a Southern California bar and lounge concept, is preparing to open a new San Diego location at IQHQ’s RaDD waterfront development.

The company’s new location is expected to join the Alley building, a 133,000-square-foot property within the development, according to SanDiegoVille. The company has not announced an exact opening date, address, or size for The Bungalow, and the San Diego location has not yet been added to its website. Customers can expect the brand’s mix of cocktails, food, music, and social events.

The San Diego project follows an earlier expansion that was announced in 2018 for Westfield UTC. That location was planned to span about 10,000 square feet, with more than 5,000 square feet of outdoor space, multiple bars, fire pits, gardens, and decks. The project was expected to break ground in summer 2019 and open in spring 2020, but it never materialized.

The current proposal is separate from the original UTC plans, which included a food program involving chef Michael Mina. There is no indication that Mina is involved with the new San Diego project. Brent Bolthouse founded The Bungalow and opened its first location in Santa Monica in 2012, followed by locations in Huntington Beach and Long Beach.

The brand’s menu includes shareable plates and bar food, along with cocktails, spirit-free drinks, and low-alcohol options. Current offerings include wings, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, dips, and other snacks, while the cocktail menu features drinks such as Margaritas, Espresso Martinis, Palomas, and Old Fashioneds.

RaDD spans 1.7 million square feet across five buildings along San Diego’s waterfront, according to IQHQ. The Alley building includes retail space and a ground-floor pedestrian passage connecting the development’s central paseo with San Diego Bay. The Bungalow’s addition would bring the hospitality concept to a development that already includes a mix of retail, office, dining, and entertainment uses.
