Marlton is getting a new barbecue joint.
Big Dean’s BBQ & Chicken will open at 103 N.J. 70, Unit A, in the former Gaetano’s of Marlton space, according to a post shared in the A View From Evesham Facebook group.
This news follows the recent announcement of Gaetano’s of Marlton’s closure after 30 years in business. However, a recorded message on the restaurant’s phone line confirms the business has merged with Lorenzo Pizza & Steaks at The Promenade.
The new barbecue spot will be a namesake concept from Chef Dean Dupuis, whose LinkedIn profile describes him as the “concept chef” behind Big Dean’s BBQ & Chicken for LaScala Restaurant Group.
LaScala Restaurant Group operates a collection of restaurant concepts across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including LaScala’s Fire, LaScala’s Birra, LaScala’s Pronto, LaScala’s Beach House, Lorenzo Pizza & Steaks and The Chicken or the Egg.
While details remain limited about the new restaurant, its name offers a pretty clear clue: barbecue and chicken will likely take center stage.
The food may also be a hit, as Chef Dupuis, the self-proclaimed “kitchen dude,” has appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped” and “Cutthroat Kitchen.”
An official opening date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned!
