A healthier dining option is heading to one of Fort Worth’s busiest medical corridors. According to public filings, Tropical Smoothie Café plans to open at 1325 Pennsylvania Ave., inside the ground-floor atrium of a professional building.
What Now Dallas reached out to Greg Smith, managing partner and owner of several Tropical Smoothie Café locations, who confirmed a targeted opening date of January 1, 2027, pending permits and construction timelines. Smith has been involved with several Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations across DFW.
Tropical Smoothie Café is a fast-casual concept founded in 1997 and built around a menu of fresh-made smoothies, flatbreads, wraps, bowls, paninis, and other better-for-you options.
The 1325 Pennsylvania Ave. address places the café adjacent to Cook Children’s Medical Center, with a school across the street that has an open lunch policy. The location is positioned to serve hospital staff, medical students, patients, families, and nearby students.
The new location is non-traditional, as it is not a standalone storefront but an open atrium concept designed to serve multiple shifts throughout the day.
The café will also open early and stay open late to accommodate hospital workers, patients, and visitors.
According to Smith, the expansion felt like a natural fit for the hospital, which “wanted to get a healthier choice for its employees, patients, and families.”
