A well-known Boston sandwich shop is getting ready to bring its beloved breakfast sandwiches to Charlestown.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, Mike & Patty’s is preparing to open its eighth location at 297 Main Street, taking over the former Johnny Pomodoro space. A “coming soon” sign recently appeared in the restaurant’s window, and the new location is also listed as “coming soon!” on the brand’s website.

Founded in 2008, Mike & Patty’s started out as a tiny sandwich shop in Boston’s Bay Village, launched by friends Patty and Mike, who had previously worked together at South End Formaggio.

Husband-and-wife team Ania Zaroda and Michael Gurevich took over the business on New Year’s Eve in 2012, marking the beginning of what would become M&A Brands, a growing hospitality group that includes Boston-area concepts Flourhouse Bakery and Hot Box Pizza & Roast Beef.

Today, Mike & Patty’s operates locations in Boston’s Bay Village, High Street Place in downtown Boston, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, Somerville’s Bow Market, and at the Logan Airport, as well as a collaboration with sister brand Flourhouse Bakery in Newton’s Nonantum neighborhood.

The eatery has built a following around its indulgent, egg-forward breakfast sandwiches, including the signature “Fancy,” which stacks two fried eggs, thick-cut bacon, melted cheddar, fresh avocado, red onion, and the restaurant’s house mayo on toasted multigrain bread.

Despite its growing footprint, the brand has held onto its decidedly small-shop identity. The original Bay Village location measures just 175 square feet, and Mike & Patty’s proudly calls itself “Your Tiny Sandwich Shop,” even describing the original as potentially the smallest eatery in Boston.

An opening date for the Charlestown location has not yet been announced. What Now Boston has reached out to the Mike & Patty’s team for additional details and will share updates as they become available.
