Dialog Cafe, a neighborhood cafe known for specialty coffee, fresh pastries, and all-day breakfast favorites, is opening a residency location at The Sun Rose West Hollywood at 8430 Sunset Boulevard.
The temporary location follows severe flooding caused by a pipe leak at Dialog’s West Hollywood cafe at 8766 Holloway Drive, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal. Co-owners Narbeh and Tadeh Ghazalian have been searching for a temporary space since the closure and signed a one-year lease for the existing restaurant space at The Sun Rose, formerly the Pendry Hotel. Dialog has a soft opening planned on September 21, with its official opening scheduled for October 3, according to a press release. The Sun Rose location is less than a mile from the original cafe and includes a large back patio, which was important to the brothers because the original Dialog was known for its patio. A longtime Dialog customer eventually connected them with The Sun Rose’s ownership after the brothers posted on social media seeking a temporary space.
“Our priority has been keeping our team together and finding a way to keep serving the neighborhood that has supported us for nearly 18 years,” said Narbeh and Tadeh Ghazalian, founders of Dialog Cafe, in a press release. “The Sun Rose has worked with us to make that possible, and we’re incredibly grateful to have a home away from home so close to our community. We’re bringing the full Dialog experience with us, and we can’t wait for people to come in, see familiar faces and sit down for their usual order again.”
After signing the lease, the Ghazalians immediately began moving staff and equipment into the hotel. Employees have completed the hotel’s compliance handbooks and an additional orientation, while Dialog has arranged for takeout and delivery from the new location. The cafe will serve its full menu daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will also be included in The Sun Rose’s room service offerings.
Dialog’s goal is to return to its original West Hollywood location as soon as possible. Ghazalian estimates restoration could take about a year or longer, although that is only an estimate and no completion date has been established. He also said he is open to keeping Dialog at The Sun Rose after the one-year lease, depending on how things develop.
Dialog serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, with offerings including specialty coffee, fresh pastries, breakfast burritos, smoothies, acai bowls, salads, and wraps. The new location will also serve the Dialog Breakfast Burrito made with pasture-raised eggs, the Chicken Caesar Wrap, the Madagascar Vanilla Latte, the Shaken Strawberry Oat Matcha Latte, smoothies, and seasonal specialty drinks. The company also has a location inside Equinox Sports Club Los Angeles on South Sepulveda Boulevard and is in the permitting process for another location in Beverly Hills.
Dialog previously shared that the flooding occurred on July 16 and caused significant damage to the West Hollywood cafe, which had been part of the community for 18 years. The company said it focused on cleaning up, assessing the damage, and restoring the space, while thanking customers for their messages, kindness, and encouragement during the closure.
